We had a great time with the peony auction. We would like to thank ‘The Famous’ Clif Haugen for being our auctioneer. It was fun and entertaining!
Please let us know if you want more auctions in the future.
Marie Haugen brought in some samples of fall raspberries and now we want to plant some, too.
Dr. Joe Zeleznik, NDSU Extension Forester gave a presentation and the “Treehouse of Horrors: Hands-on workshop diagnosing tree problems” was excellent. We need to have him come back another time.
We also want to thank everyone that brought food to share and made coffee, helped with raffle & auction, greeter, those who came early to help set-up and all the hands to clean-up. A very generous and helpful group!

Grand Forks Horticultural Society
The September 17, 2016 meeting of the Grand Forks Horticultural Society was held Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Parkwood Place/Edgewood Vista, Grand Forks, ND.. The general meeting opened at 10 am. Board members present were, Marlene Maxon, Zona Pearson, Kathy Hertel, Marie Haugen, Linda Burkhart, Terrie Mann, Terry Meyer and Cec Lambeth.
Marlene called the meeting to order.
Announcements:
A call for speakers or members who are willing to take positions within the group such as Treasurer, Secretary, etc. was made.
Linda Burkhart spoke about the 2016 Garden Tour. The numbers were down but there were fabulous gardens. A sign up sheet with possible gardens for 2017 was passed around.
This will be held the weekend after Father’s Day in 2017.
Zona gave a review of the bus trip 2016. She is also looking for someone who has Chinese Lanterns for their 60th anniversary this fall October 15, 2016.
The Tips and Topics was about fall bearing raspberries and these were available to sample.
A peony auction was held with Clif Haugen as auctioneer. Six peonies roots were available and ready to be planted :
